Game Night Outfit - Blackhawks v. Avs - 10/28/17

First things first, the Avs beat the Blackhawks 6-3 last night! Woop woop!!

After a tough loss the day before in Las Vegas, the Avs bounced back in a strong fashion. Weekend games always bring a rowdy yet fun crowd, especially a Saturday night game against the Blackhawks (boooooo). It was also our closest game to Halloween. I guess a lot of people decided to dress up as Blackhawks fans?? Good one guys...

Though I desperately wanted to dress up as Veronica Corningstone, I had just received a package in this week from one of my new obsessions Vici Collection. It didn't take much inspiration to put together this gorgeous number.

I loved this faux suede Kimberly Bodycon Dress. It reminded me of a dress Jennifer Aniston would wear in her Rachel Green days. It's incredibly comfortable and I love the neckline of this dress. It's just $58 and you can use the code SEASON20 to get 20% off now!

Luckily it wasn't ALL Blackhawks fans at the game, I managed to find this awesome kangaroo. He'd never been to Australia, nor seen a real life kangaroo. Had he won the $1,000 from Toyota Time, he said he would have put that directly towards his first Australia trip. Talk about an inspired Halloween costume!

OMG Shoes

The shoes also came from Vici. I originally saw these on their instagram page and fell in love. They're called the Wagner Zip Bootie. I purchased these in Clay color, but they also have these available in tan (which I may have to invest in as well).

Bling Bling

I really wanted to focus on the outfit last night, one of those "less is more" concepts. I still had on my favorite mini diamond heart necklace from Yasuko Azuma (which I pretty much always wear & mentioned in my "A Few of my Favorite Things" post).

I was also wearing my black rhodium plated Essential ID Ring from Shay Jewelry which is another favorite of mine. Shown below in yellow gold:

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love my hoop earrings. I found this pair from Aldo, and I've stocked up!! These hoop earrings are the perfect size and most importantly they're super lightweight. I can't wear heavy earrings, they always give me a headache. If you love hoops even half as much as I do, invest in this pair! They're just $10 and great with any outfit.

Any night where the Avs win, Blackhawks lose and I don't slip on the ice is successful night in my books! To all my girls out there, check out Vici Collection. They always have discount codes and they're kind of amaze balls! Until next time....Go Avs!

Game Night Outfit - Stars v. Avs - 10/24/17

When I put my outfits together, it tends to start with one piece of the outfit then builds from there. Typically, this starting point is my shoes. My game night outfit for the Stars v. Avalanche game was this super cute skirt from local Denver boutique Sous le Lit. (I love shopping local and understand the value behind putting your money back into your own community. If you can shop local, I always recommend doing so!)

Though I have many, I'm not a big skirt wearer.  My body type tends to look a little awkward in skirts, so I normally steer away from them. I loved the ruffles and the extra tie fabric in front of the skirt. This detail also made it look a little more unique than a traditional pencil skirt.

Since the skirt had a lot of character on it's own, I didn't want to incorporate to busy of a top. I found this super soft, basic white tank from Aritzia when I was visiting my best friend in Toronto over the summer. I had never been to Aritzia before since we don't have one in Colorado, but it was AMAZING. They carry a few different labels and their basics are top notch!!

The red heels are one of my favorite pairs to wear. This pair from Aldo are a few seasons old, but they do have some beautiful red heels in their current collection! I think it's crucial to have a good pair of red heels in your wardrobe.

Don't forget to accessorize!

I'm kind of obsessed with jewelry, I suppose you could say it's in my blood. I think Carol Channing was onto something when she first sang "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend."

These diamond link earrings are one of my absolute favorites from Shay Jewelry. I paired them with a traditional bezel set diamond necklace made by Hurdle's Jewelry. (Side Note: Do you have a diamond in a piece of jewelry you don't wear? Make one of these necklaces with it without breaking the bank!)

Both the earrings and necklace are in rose gold. I know so many people feel that rose gold is a trend, but I'm going to say that trend is here to stay!

Rule #1: Be Confident!

As I mentioned above, I don't love the way my body looks most in pencil skirts. Someone else can tell you that you look fabulous in an outfit, but if you don't believe it, it will show in your demeanor. It is so important to feel comfortable and confident in what you wear. This rule goes for everything from your shoes to your hair. There's nothing more attractive than a girl with confidence, once you can see your own beauty, so will everyone else!

Game Night Outfit - Blues v. Avs - 10/19/17

Truth be told, I had my outfit picked out for this game...then realized it was navy blue. First rule of working game nights, do NOT wear the other team's colors. Granted, the Blues team doesn't technically wear navy blue, but I felt that any shade of blue was too close for comfort. So, back to square one, I decided to go with a grey and black theme instead.

The grey long sleeve dress and black leather (faux) vest came from the clearance rack at Forever 21! As I mentioned before, I'm ALL about a good deal!

The dress below is available here for just $10!

I found this black leather vest for just $5 at Forever 21. They do not have it available online but they've got some really cute leather jackets right now for Fall!

In all honesty, I have trouble reading Pepsivision. My eyes have really struggled since college. Thank goodness there's companies like Warby Parker that offer stylish glasses and frames at an affordable price. They make it super easy to order, and even offer to send you frames for FREE to try out before buying! My glasses are the "Edgar" frame.

Last but not least, the boots. These boots are so perfect for Fall. There are so many places to get the over-the-knee boot look too! These came from Lulu's and you can buy yours here!

Sometimes the best outfits come off the clearance rack. Plus, you can never go wrong with grey & black together! Hope you enjoyed my game night outfit and as always, Go Avs!

A Few of My Favorite Things...

Growing up in the jewelry industry, I never thought I’d find myself with a career in that same field. I remember being in the store (Hurdle’s Jewelry) at a young age and feeling so important that they let me windex the glass cases….little did I realize it was just some child labor! Ha!

I had little intentions of continuing the family business and working at the jewelry store after I graduated from the University of Colorado. Fast forward a few years, I was needing a transition job to figure out what I was going to do with my life. I started working at the store, and simply fell in love. Everything about it, the jewelry, the people, the family history, everything!

Now, here I am years later, constantly obsessing over jewelry. I’m excited to share some of my favorite things from our store and the designers we work with.

  • Amali Jewelry has the most stunning pieces, I’ve already covered my love for Sara & her jewelry in a previous post, but truly she’s ridiculously amazing! These turquoise & blue diamond earrings are so unique and beautiful.

  • I wear this necklace every single day. I’m not a huge heart shape fan, but for whatever reason I became attached to this mini diamond heart necklace from Yasuko Azuma. It’s so perfect as a tiny accent or layered with other necklaces.
  • Next up, I absolutely love the color of Lapis mixed with yellow gold accents. This “Heirloom” Lapis bracelet from Nina Nguyen is perfect for stacking next to a watch or other bracelets. Not to mention, Nina Nguyen is a local designer based out of Denver! She has tons of gorgeous wrap necklaces and bracelets in addition to this one!

  • Shay Jewelry has a special place in my heart. I’m obsessed with all of their designs. They make their pieces in rose gold, yellow gold, white gold and my favorite, black rhodium plated gold (like the ring below). I've never seen a piece of jewelry from Shay that I didn't fall in love with! Pave Diamond Link Ring from Shay:

  • Everyone needs a good watch. This TAG Carrera is not only functional but also gorgeous!! The strap is a soft leather with cross stitching. The diamonds and rose gold accents are what make this watch my absolute favorite!! This is also available in navy blue too! The obsession is real.

  • The perfect everyday diamond stud earrings. These come in yellow, white & rose gold. They also come in a larger size too! The best part about these earrings is their price. They're $545 and have a big look in your ear for diamond stud earrings. If you were to buy single diamond stud earrings that look the same size you'd be paying upwards of $5,000! I'm all about saving money and still getting look!

These are just a few of my favorite jewelry pieces. I'm so passionate about jewelry and can't wait to share more of my favorites in the future! I would love to hear what you think of my favorites, along with what your favorites are too!

Game Night Outfit - Ducks v. Avs - 10/13/17

Time for the second game of the season, after an incredible opening night on Wednesday. It's now Friday the 13th and time for another game night outfit!

I am so fortunate to have begun collaborating with Inspyre Boutique in Denver. They are solely responsible for this adorable outfit I was rocking Friday night. They have the cutest clothes and accessories. The best part about Inpsyre, everything they sell is UNDER $100!!

I fell in love with this Olivaceous little black dress. It's only $44 too!! I belted it with one of their silver studded belts (they have TONS of super cute belts in store right now). Then my favorite part of the outfit was my grey Billabong hat. This was the first time I've ever worn a hat during an Avs game, and I'm going to say it won't be the last time!!

Half way through the game, I got a little chilly (big shocker in an ice arena) and threw on this super cute BB Dakota Wade Faux Suede Jacket. Inspyre has this in a few different colors at their stores!

Then there were the red lace up pumps. Believe it or not, I found these on the clearance rack at TJ Maxx! These heels were surprisingly comfortable (only one band-aid required).

Thank you so much to Inspyre Boutique for helping me put together this cute outfit!! And thank you to all of the Avs fans for making my first week back-in-action a memorable one! This week's home games were truly unforgettable!

Game Night Outfit - Opening Night 10/11/17

It’s opening night! Which can only mean a well planned, fun and cute outfit is necessary. I tried on at least 10 dresses before deciding on my little black dress. Wednesday night’s outfit was a bit plain but I decided to dress it up with a few accessories to make it more special, more “opening night outfit” worthy.

I picked this dress out from a fun boutique in New York last time I was there, Necessary Clothing. The boutique offers online shopping and shipment all over the US! Though they do not still have my exact dress, they do offer a similar style currently here. I love the choker and open v-neck look of this dress. I’m into chokers (I still have many from my middle school days).

Sometimes I pick out my shoes, then sort my outfit out from there. I’m running around A LOT at games, therefore finding something I can run in is key, not to mention I have to be comfortable enough in them to walk on the ice. Wednesday night’s heels were from Charlotte Russe. I’ve found some of my favorite heels in places like Charlotte Russe and Forever 21. I cannot stress how important it is to try them on and walk around in them a little at the store. If they’re uncomfortable, or cutting into your foot the minute you put them on, trust me 5 hours later your feet will be struggling. They don’t have these exact ones anymore but they do have a few in some other colors: Studded Heels

For the jewels: I’m a sucker for yellow gold. My favorite jewelry designer uses yellow gold in all of her pieces and let me tell you how amazing she is. Sara Freedenfeld of Amali Jewelry is THE BEST. Not only is she a ridiculously amazing human being, but her line of jewelry is incredible, beautiful and so unique. We carry her line up at Hurdle’s Jewelry you can shop these earrings and her collection here. On Wednesday, I wore her 18k yellow gold weaved circle drop earrings. The circles are actual 18k yellow gold chain that she’s wrapped and weaved into their shape. They’re so sparkly and light weight too!

Opening night was one for the books! So excited for the rest of the season! Go Avs!

Welcome

Here we go! I’m finally entering the fashion blogger world and I’m really excited to be here. This is something I’ve been working on for a long time and I can’t wait to share my love for fashion, jewelry and wine! I’d like to introduce myself and provide a little more insight as to why I’ve started a blog titled Rosé, Rocks & Retail Therapy.

My full-time job is up in the Boulder bubble. I work at my family owned jewelry store, Hurdle’s Jewelry on the Pearl Street Mall. I’m fourth generation at the store (established in 1947 by my great-grandfather). Just last week the Daily Camera did a story on the history of our store http://bit.ly/2yRGuf5. I’m so proud to be part of this legacy. I absolutely love working with my Dad and carrying on the family tradition, not to mention I have a slight obsession for jewelry.

Additionally, I work with the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche as their in-arena emcee. The best way to describe my role with the Avs is….I’m that girl who runs around the arena/on the ice in my heels, giving away prizes and typically making a fool of myself when possible. I’m currently entering my 6th season with the Avs (wow, how time flies). One of my favorite things before games is picking out my outfit and especially my shoes! I have so many people ask me where my outfit is from! I’ve now created a space where I can share exactly what I’m wearing and where I got it from. You’ll find these posts under “Style” labeled as Game Night Outfits.

Now, for the “Rosé” part of the title. I’ll be the first to claim that I’m no sommelier, but I love a good glass (or bottle, depending on the night) of wine. When it comes to wine, I really like to consider myself an equal opportunist. I have been hooked on Rosé wine lately! But, I’m also a sucker for Italian reds, and Pinot Gris. Coming soon, you’ll find reviews of different wines in my “Life” tab. Most importantly, you’ll find some suggestions of my favorites that you don’t have to spend your whole paycheck on!

You can also expect to see a few more lifestyle blog posts & product reviews sprinkled into the mix.

I’m so appreciative of you taking the time out of your day to read what I am passionate about. I can’t wait to dive in to this world and hopefully help others along the way! Thank you so much!
